Their story made history. Million Dollar Quartet is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. Nov. 3, Thursday, 6pm, “Paint Your Own Pottery,” Grab a friend and enjoy a creative and social evening out as you paint your own 12″ round serving plate. Nov. 4, Friday, 6pm, “Fall Ceilidh and Silent Auction,” A ceilidh—pronounced Kay-lee, from the Gaelic—refers to a social event with Irish and Scottish folk music, singing and traditional dancing. Our ceilidh brings together people of all ages from across York County for a night of dance, song, food and drink, storytelling and celebration. The traditional Irish dance music band Boghat, based in Portland, provides the music, and a “dance caller” leads our guests through the various dance steps. The silent auction begins at 6:00 p.m. and features 18 baskets with three, four, or five items each. A typical basket might contain an overnight stay at a Kennebunkport hotel, tickets for two to a nearby theatre or show, and two bottles of wine with wine glasses. Nov. 4, Friday, 7:30pm, “Organ Concert,” Zorada Temmingh, foremost organ improviser from South Africa, will perform a unique program of improvising on well-known hymns. Her program is sure to inspire, ending with her musical interpretation of the events of 9/11/16. Nov. 4-6, Friday-Sunday, 7:30pm/Fri. and Sat, 2pm/Sun, “She Kills Monsters,” a UNE Players’ production, is comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. Nov. 5, Saturday, 9am-2pm, “Saint David’s Annual Harvest Fair,” A variety of tables include our famous “Jewelry” table, a Table of Treasures with a variety of items for the home as well as Christmas decorations, Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe, featuring handmade confectionaries and other sweet treats; a Silent Auction as well as live auction. Frozen homemade dinners and other goodies; and a “theme” basket raffle such as “Let’s Get Cooking, Kids”. In addition, breakfast items will be available from area bakeries and “Lunch at the Fair” will feature sandwiches and soups from 5 area restaurants. Nov. 5 and 6, Saturday-Sunday, 10am-4pm, “33rd Annual League of Maine Craft Show,” Ready for some holiday shopping? You’ll find unique handmade gifts at the 33rd annual League of Maine Craft Show in Wells. The juried show, held at the Wells Jr. High School, features Maine and New England artists and crafters. The show is a tradition for visitors and locals alike. The aisles are filled with creativity: jewelry, pottery, photography, soaps, clothing, knits, candles, wood crafts, fiber art, specialty foods and more. The show also includes live music provided by folk musician Carolyn Currie of Cumberland. Her CD’s will be available at the show. Beach Dawgs Café will offer a hearty and hot menu, which will be available throughout the day at the “café” near the entry way. Look for our tall flags and come enjoy the day.
