June 9-12, Thursday-Sunday, 6pm/Thurs, 9am/Fri. and Sat, 12pm/Sun,”Opening Reception for Festival of Arts,” produced by the Senior College at Belfast and features work by Maine artists 50 years of age and older. Thursday, June 9, 6:00-8:00 pm – Opening Night Reception and First Viewing with music by the Belfast Bay Fiddlers, light refreshments and wine bar. Friday, June 10, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Exhibit is open to the public. Saturday, June 11, 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. – Visitors will enjoy the beautiful sounds of harpist Nancy Schroeder as they view the variety of artwork. Exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at 1:00 p,m. – A presentation by the Featured Guest Artist, John Whalley, American realist best known for his exquisitely detailed graphite drawings and still-life paintings. June 12, Sunday, 2pm, “Daponte Concert to Honor David Ellis,” the Daponte String Quartet will play works by Bach, Mozart, and Shostakovich, with a reception to follow directly after the concert. Music and art lovers of all stripes are invited to join in the festivities. Mr. Ellis, known to his friends as David, was an abstract artist who began his career in New York City and eventually moved to Maine to complete his life’s work in the mid-coast region. He and his wife, Joan Beauregard, also an artist, created the Anonimo Foundation in 1990 to support the arts and art education by providing grants to local schools and other nonprofit organizations.
