Jan. 21, Thurs, 7pm, “An Evening with Young Guns of the Red Sox,” future stars of the Red Sox, catcher Blake Swihart & first baseman Travis Shaw to talk all things baseball live, join them as they discuss this past season, what to expect next year, what it’s like to be a Young Gun for the Sox, and dish about other players. Jan. 22, Fri, 6:30-7:30pm, “Gallery Reception: The Winter Landscape by Barbara Adams,” pastel and oil works. “My inspiration comes from spending as much time as I can soaking in the landscape of Maine” says artist Barbara Adams, whose works focus on light, color, and composition. The works push towards abstraction while retaining a realistic integrity. Jan. 27, Wed, 6:30-8pm, “American Chestnut Tree-Restoration and Discovery,” Dr. Brian Roth is an acclaimed expert in forestry regeneration and management, and has been conducting research in the field for 25 years. Roth and team recently discovered the tallest chestnut tree in North America growing here in Maine. In 1900, the species accounted for 25% of all trees in the Eastern US and had great value. A fungal blight crippled the population and by 1950, less than 0.1% of the chestnut trees had survived.
