Dec. 24, Thursday, 10am-2pm, “Central Maine Clay Artists 10th Annual Holiday Pottery Shop,” the work of at least 13 clay artisans will be on display and available for purchase at the Holiday Pottery Shop. Gift items will range in price to fit all budgets and include pottery and ceramic art, as well as several guest artisans who will be displaying their handmade jewelry, weaving, fiber arts, wood, personal care and much more, Holiday Pottery Shop, 100 Water St, Hallowell. Dec. 26, 28 and 30, Saturday, Monday and Wednesday, 10am-5pm/Sat, 10am-7:30pm/Mon. and Wed, “Maine Collected,” features selected works by living artists connected to Maine from the Bates Museum of Art’s permanent collection. The collection has significant strengths in Maine art. This exhibition includes work in most media and in a wide variety of themes and styles, many of which have not been on view in the museum previously. Dec. 26, 29 and 30, Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10am-4pm/Sat, 9am-5pm/Tues. and Wed, “Maine State Museum,” it’s the best place to go for a crash course in Maine history. There are more than 500,000 artifacts in the museum’s history collections, ranging from silver spoons to a three-story, wood-powered woodworking mill. Dec. 26, Saturday, 7pm, “Middle Eastern Dance Night,” enjoy authentic Middle Eastern flavors with great food and live Arabic/Turkish music from the band Okbari along with elegant, gorgeous Belly Dancing performances all evening. Dec. 27, Sunday, 9-10:30am, “Snowshoe & Coffee – or Hike,” Join the ladies of the Maine Beginner Hiking/Snowshoeing Meetup for Women! Agenda: 9:00 – Meet at Augusta Nature Center’s trailhead located at end of Haskell Street near trailhead kiosk in Augusta, ME. 9:10 – Short introduction of who I am and what our meetup is about. Then I’ll pick a winner for the Juiced $10 gift card!! Woohoo:) 10:00 – End hike and drive from Augusta to Juiced Cafe in Hallowell 10:00 – Whenever – Enjoy great company and yummy goodies at Juiced including smoothies, juices, snacks, and coffee. Please arrive right a few minutes early! Look for my orange car in parking lot. Hiking Route: Start at Haskell Street parking and take a right onto Red Line Trail/Witch Hazel Trail. We’ll keep going until we hit the Whitney Brook Trail which will bring us past a small waterfall, dam, and beaver works. Then we’ll loop back around and follow the Red Line Trail/White Oak Trail back to the parking lot. Parking is limited so carpool if possible! Snowshoe or hike?
