Dec. 11-13, Friday-Sunday, 7pm/Fri. and Sat, 2pm/Sat. and Sun, “Bugsy Malone, Jr,” these performances of “Bugsy Malone Jr.” will be the culmination of three months of hard work and practice for local children ages 9-13. Talented students will take the audience back to 1920’s New York City, where two gangs square off in a 1920’s rivalry of Capone-ian standards. Bugsy Malone, a wanderer and admirer of beautiful NYC, is thrust into the gangster limelight not-so-willingly. Dec. 11, Friday, 7pm, “Bangor Children’s Choir,” will present its 2015 Winter Concert “Make the Season Bright.” The Treble Choir and Youth Chorale will present a program of great classics, appealing arrangements of familiar favorites, and new treasures. An arrangement of the famous Advent hymn, Veni Emmanuel, by the great 20th century Hungarian composer, Zoltan Kodaly, will begin the program, followed by the infectiously rhythmic Riu, Riu Chiu, composed in 16th century Spain. There will be classics by Bach and Mozart as well as an arrangement of Pentatonix’s White Winter Hymnal – complete with body percussion. Dec. 12, Saturday, 9am-3pm, “Maine Indian Basketmakers Holiday Market,” four Native American artists who participate in the Hudson Museum’s Maine Indian Basketmakers Holiday Market also have baskets showcased in the Portland Museum of Art’s biennial “You Can’t Get There from Here.” Those artists and approximately 50 others will be at the Maine Indian Basketmakers Holiday Market.
