Nov. 20-21, Friday-Saturday, 4-8pm/Fri, 10am-5pm/Sat, “7th Annual ArtFull Gifts Show,” a broad spectrum of exceptional Maine-made craft, art, and fine food gifts awaits shoppers, a Gala Preview Party from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday kicks off the weekend with the first opportunity to make selections from the exhibitors’ full array of merchandise. Attendees can enjoy complimentary nibbles from local fine food purveyors, a cash bar, and live jazz by well-known local musician Phil Clement. Nov. 20-21, Friday-Saturday, 7:30pm/Fri, 3pm/Sat, “Navidad Nuestra: A Latin-American Holiday Celebration,” the performances will feature two extended works by Argentine composer Ariel Ramírez: “Navidad Nuestra,”subtitled “A folk drama of the Nativity based on the rhythms and traditions of Hispanic America,” and “Misa Criolla,” a Catholic mass text set in Spanish in 1963 and using native musical styles. It was one of the first major masses written after The Second Vatican Council mandated the use of local languages for Catholic worship. The concert will also include arrangements of Christmas carols, some of which were contributed by a Bowdoin student from Puerto Rico and others from a choral director in Medellin, Colombia. Nov. 20, Friday, 7:30pm, “Jubilee Riots,” Northern roots act JUBILEE RIOTS, formerly ENTER THE HAGGIS, have consistently pushed the envelope of musical exploration with their evolving fusion of indie rock, folk and world music. Their catchy, innovative songs have pop hooks and a definitive Celtic sound. The five band members, Brian Buchanan, Craig Downie, Trevor Lewington, Mark Abraham, and Bruce McCarthy meld guitars, keyboards, and percussion with the fiddle, highland bagpipes, trumpet, octave mandolin, whistle and harmonica.
