Nov. 5, Thursday, 5:30pm, “Harvest Turkey Supper,” features locally grown, mostly organic produce and turkey. Hoffmann’s “Nutcracker” has become a play — the story of an evil Mouseking, a Nutcracker who comes to life and the girl who saves him from a curse. Nov. 6, Friday, 7:30pm, “Beatles for Sale-Beatles Tribute Band,” an all-new show. This is an award-winning, New England-based Beatles tribute band committed to re-creating the sounds of the Beatles live, in concert. This group of musicians was drawn together by their love of Beatles music and the desire to keep the music alive, bringing it to a whole new generation of Beatles fans. But don’t expect to see Beatle wigs or Sgt. Pepper suits. They say that the most important thing about the show is the music. What you will see is a fun and energetic performance complete with original instrumentation and vocal harmonies that are as accurate as possible to the original Beatles’ recordings. There are no “sampling” or “midi tricks” – everything you hear is performed completely live. Nov. 7, Saturday, 6pm, “Civil War Remembrance Dinner & Program,” a heritage dinner will be followed by readings and music of the Civil War in the Ladies’ Parlor of the 1867 Washburn Family Mansion. The dinner features stuffed roast pork wrapped in bacon, soup, baked beans, roasted root vegetables, coleslaw, cornbread and dessert that will be served in the historic Farmer’s Cottage. After supper, guests adjourn to the parlor for a rare opportunity to hear readings from Washburn family letters and to songs of the era with piano accompaniment. Nov. 7, Saturday, 7:30pm, “Battle of the Blends XXII,” The Maine Music Society kicks off its 25th Anniversary Season with the roof raising Battle of the Blends XXII concert at the Franco Center. This celebration of singing features six a cappella groups who embody this year’s theme of Making Music Soar with their energetic vocal renditions of jazz, barbershop, pop, rock ‘n’ roll, and Renaissance music.
