Humble paint store clerk by day, stallion dance king by night, Tony Manero lives for Saturday night at the disco where each week the nightclub falls under the spell of the disco beat and Tony’s astounding dance routines. When a big dance competition is announced, he convinces the beautiful and talented Stephanie to be his partner. Saturday Night Fever the Musical is based on the 1977 film that became a cultural phenomenon and cemented the Bee Gees as disco era icons with their electrifying score. Oct. 25, Sunday, 3pm, “The Organ Donors-Jazz with a Funky Groove,” the Organ Donors is a Portland-based jazz trio consisting of Michael Beling, organ, Gideon Forbes, saxophone, and Jacob Forbes, drums. While all three musicians are accomplished soloists in their own right, they never lose sight of cultivating a cohesive and engaging group sound, or of establishing a connection with the audience. Their unique style of jazz is informed by tradition yet fully rooted in the present. They draw on diverse influences such as Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, funk, R&B, classical, modern jazz, and world music, to present a varied program of original music and covers.
