Oct. 17, Saturday, 12:30-3pm, “KELTS Morse Pond Preserve Grand Opening,” a new outdoor, public place to hike, run, bike, and explore! The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) is pleased to invite the public to the grand opening of the Morse Pond Preserve in Georgetown on Saturday, October 17 at 12:30pm. Join KELT supporters for the brief ribbon cutting ceremony followed by autumn-themed refreshments, guided and self-guided walks. This 280-acre preserve protects significant wetland habitats and maintains traditional hunting opportunities. Great birding and wildlife sighting opportunities abound, as well as the challenge of a rolling landscape for exercise and enjoyment through the seasons, free, Morse Pond Preserve, 1.1 miles south on Seguinland Road, Georgetown. Oct. 17, Saturday, 3-6pm, “Farnsworth Fall Family Festival,” join us for free-style pumpkin carving, face painting, crafts, and live music, a parade will take place on Main Street, departing from the sculpture garden at 5:15 p.m., families are invited to participate in the parade by wearing costumes and masks, free, Farnsworth Art Museum, 16 Museum St., Rockland. Oct. 17, Saturday, 4:30-7:30pm, “Pig Roast and Harvest Supper,” including Celtic music and live auction, featuring locally raised and harvested pork and vegetables. There’ll be baked beans, potato salad, squash, applesauce, cole slaw, and homemade pies. The Big Moose Band and Friends will play traditional Celtic jigs, reels, and waltzes. The supper will be followed by good, old-fashioned Maine humor in a live auction by Brooklin native, Allan Smith.
