Oct. 2-4, Friday-Sunday, 7:30pm/Fri. and Sat, 2pm/Sun, “The Butler Did It,” a comedy that parodies every English mystery play ever written with a decidedly American flair. Miss Maple, a dowager with a reputation for “clever” weekend parties, invites a group of detective writers to eerie Ravenswood Manor on Turkey Island where they are to impersonate their fictional characters. The hostess has arranged all sorts of amusing incidents. Laughs collide with thrills, and the climax is a real seat-grabber as the true killer is unmasked, and almost everyone turns out to be someone else, $14/adults, $12/seniors and students, Schoolhouse Arts Center, 16 Richville Rd, Standish. Oct. 2, Friday, 8pm, “Barn Burner with Dennis Brennan Band,” Friend and local Boston Rocker Dennis Brennan is one of those Boston best kept secrets. Backeb by non e other than the Guitar God Duke Levine and a killer rhythm section with Richard Gates and Billy Beard this will be a great night of rootsy originals, soul, country, blues and more. Barn Burners are held in the 200 year old Quisisana Barn….casual style show, bar stays open….less formal, but a lestening environment. A small comfort food menu will be served on these nights, from 6pm ‘til show time. Oct. 3-4, Saturday-Sunday, 10am-4pm/Sat, 10am-2pm/Sun, “Art Festival at Historic Marrett House,” come see Maine art, history and beautiful foliage all in one place at the annual Art at Marrett celebration at historic NewEngland’s 1789 Marrett House in Standish. This wonderful celebration of Maine arts and crafts showcases the work of the Saco River Art League and other Maine artists, all of whom will be on hand displaying and selling their work. Free tours of the Marrett House will be offered on the hour. Oct. 3, Saturday, 8pm, “Dave Rowe, Squid Jiggers, Half Moon Jug Band,” the stage in the Maine Inn Dining Room at Poland Spring Resort will be ringing with popular Maine folk music. Dave Rowe, the Squid Jiggers, and the Half Moon Jug Band will be joining forces for a no-holds-barred folk music event of epic proportions at the height of the Maine leaf peeping season, $16/concert, $26/concert and buffet, The Maine Inn, Poland Spring Resort, 640 Maine Street, Poland.
