Jan. 24, Saturday, 9:30-11:30am, “Snowshoe Hike,” Come along with Loon Echo Land Trust (LELT) on a rewarding snowshoe hike up Bald Pate Mountain. If you don’t have snowshoes, don’t worry! The Gyger family has generously donated snowshoes for the event. After being outfitted, hikers will pass through the Farm’s conserved land before reaching Bald Pate Mountain Preserve, protected by LELT in 1997. The rocky summit provides excellent views and photo opportunities, conditions permitting. Bald Pate is a popular destination for families with 500 acres conserved with a portion being in forest management, 6 miles of hiking trails, a wide variety of plant and animal species, including a unique Pitch Pine grove at the 1100′ summit. This hike is considered Moderate/Strenuous and will take approximately 2 hours. Proper winter clothing, snacks and water are recommended. Jan. 24, Saturday, 7pm, “The Press Gang in Concert presented by Music with a Mission,” instrumental dance music from Ireland on fiddle, accordion, and guitar, based in Portland, Maine, these three musicians have become popular over the past four years for their skillful playing and deep understanding of the music – and for their humorous stage presence, as American performers in the Irish tradition, The Press Gang brings a unique perspective to the music, they intersperse their repertoire of Irish melodies with related tunes from Quebec, Scotland, Appalachia and New England, $12/adults, $10/youths and seniors, North Windham Union Church, 723 Roosevelt Trail, Windham.
