Nov. 13-15, Thursday-Saturday, 7:30pm, “Orlando,” award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl, a man named Orlando lives life to the fullest through three centuries, and, after a long sleep, becomes a woman. A romp through the ages, a meditation on time, gender, and sexuality, Woolf’s Orlando was called the longest love letter in literary history. This adaptation by Sarah Ruhl uses narrative and a chorus to enact lyrical, instant, and whimsical transformations, throwing gender, temporality, and geography into a world where fluidity reigns over fixity, free, Strider Theater, Colby College, Waterville. Nov. 14, Friday, 7:30pm, AudioBody,” a family-friendly, electronic-comedy duo that has been described as “a modern-day Smothers Brothers meets Blue Man Group”. During each performance the two performers of AudioBody let their habit of one-upping each other steer a spectacle of kaleidoscopic strobes, LED lights, juggling, music, contortion and hilarity. Nov. 15, Saturday, 7:30pm, “Late Nite Catechism,” with Vicky Quade and Maripat Donovan, call it Loretta Young meets Carol Burnett. This is part catechism class, part stand-up routine.
