Oct. 2, Thursday, 7:30pm, “Metropolis Ensemble,” led by Andrew Cyr ’96, and with musicians stationed throughout the arts center, this acclaimed chamber orchestra performs “Brownstone,” as well as a piece for violin and theremin and a world premiere by Bates composer William Matthews, $25/VIP admission, free/regular admission but tickets are required, Bates College, Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell Street, Lewiston. Oct. 4, Saturday, 10am-3pm, “Fall Festival,” the day will begin with a 5k at 9am and then starting at 10am until 3pm there will be a bounce house, family activities, games, hay rides and a pig roast and more, free/donations will be accepted to benefit the Sabattus Veterans Memorial Park Project, Community Baptist Church, 9 Main Street, Sabattus. Oct. 4, Saturday, 10am-4pm, “Corn Maize,” 10-acre maize is a series of paths cut into the cornfield and provide ample fun for young and old, in addition to the maze, an old-fashioned hayride will take you to the “pick your own pumpkin” patch, petting zoo of farm animals, obstacle course and corn box, closed on rainy days, $8/adults, $4/under 10, Sandy River Farms, 560 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Oct. 4, Saturday, 10am-6pm, “Farmington Pumpkin Festival,” family-friendly event, Rick Charett, Maine’s own children’s singer/songwriter, to perform at 2:30pm, The Red Trouser Show including acrobatics and high humor and Cate the Great, juggler and acrobatics, perform throughout the day, Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers, “Everybody Loves Pirates,” is scheduled for 12:30pm, Maine magician Conjuring Carroll appears along Front Street from 10am-4pm, plus the Dana Perkins Ventriloquist show at 2pm, Franklin county Fiddlers at 3:45pm and Fiddle Jam 4:30-6pm, giant hay maze, scavenger hunt, and scarecrow decorating and games, $5/passes available at Western Mountain Financial Services parking lot, Historic Front Street, Farmington.
