July 17, Thursday, 8:00 p.m., “Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas,” Though from different backgrounds, the mesmerizing duo of Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and upstart cellist Natalie Haas has emerged as one of the most acclaimed purveyors of traditional Celtic music playing today, Fraser, a two-time Scottish National Fiddle Champion and esteemed long-time veteran of the traditional Celtic music scene, has been called “one of the finest fiddle players Scotland has ever produced” (Scots Magazine), and has been featured on the soundtracks of cinematic blockbusters like Titanic, Braveheart and The Last of the Mohicans among others, his playing transports listeners across a broad musical spectrum, ranging from haunting laments from the Gaelic tradition to classically-styled airs, raucous dance tunes, and improvisations based on traditional themes, $25 for show only plus $3 service fee, Jonathans, 92 Bourne Lane, Ogunquit.
