Before you even enter the house you’ll be struck by several things. Number one — privacy. Robert, the owner, wants you to know that the property “has a gated drive entry off a private road. Most Maine lakefront lots have common road access necessitating unwanted traffic.”

Thompson Lake is rated one of the ten best lakes in Maine for water quality. Time spent on the almost twelve-mile long lake is always spectacular. The shoreline is varied with long stretches of undeveloped shore, with shallow sandy areas and steep, rocky sections.  Robert says that they love “the entire lake, particularly the islands.”
And they’ve seen wildlife galore, including “mink, otter, fox, moose, deer, skunk, hummingbirds galore, multiple loons at the same time and ducks galore.”
It’s the best of all worlds in Oxford, which has a year-round population of about 4,200. Some days you’ll want to head to Route 26 for the shops, eateries, Oxford Plains Speedway and Oxford Casino. And of course you won’t want to miss the Oxford County Fair, “A Good Old Country Fair.”
