May 1, Thursday, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., “Camden Library Coffeehouse, ‘Notorius'” ‘Notorious’–guitarist Larry Unger and fiddler Eden MacAdam-Somer–will perform dazzling fiddlework on traditional American, Celtic, and Eastern-European tunes and songs, swing, blues, classical music, and the group’s original compositions, the duo is a continued favorite at the Coffeehouse for their sparkling and exhilarating performances, $8 at door, $7 seniors, Camden Public Library, 55 Main St., Camden. May 1 – 3, Thursday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., “Woman on a Wire,” ‘Woman on Wire’ is a collection of oil paintings by Maine native Angela Andersen Pomerleau depicting the famous Flying Wallendas circus troupe, Anderson shares her love of the circus through her paintings, and has been working with the Wallenda family for the past several years, this solo exhibition is a continuation of her Circus Series and features very large and very small works, from 3×4” to 52×72”, on photographs taken of The Flying Wallendas Family Circus, Anderson says that her love of the subject “comes from my own interest in performance, art, and family,” free event, Camden Public Library, 55 Main Street, Camden. May 2, Friday, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., “Artist Reception at Coastal Islands Art Gallery,” There will be an artists’ reception during the first Friday Artwalk in Rockland, Sue Shane from Falmouth will be exhibiting “Birds of Maine’s Coastal Islands,” a collection of original and printed water color paintings, Artists’ Beverly St. Clair and Roxanne Miller share a love for the arts and have recently collaborated as a mother-daughter team featuring paintings from nature and pressed seaweed. Harry Melquist is a hobbyist photographer of fifty plus years who grew up in Port Clyde. May 3, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., “Henry Purcell’s The Fairy Queen with St. Cecilia Chamber Choir – Maine Premier,” These concerts conducted by Linda Blanchard will feature a full orchestra, and many well-known soloists, including sopranos Nina Tilander and Abbey Hutchins, mezzo-soprano Jazmin DeRice, tenor Timothy Neill Johnson, and bass John David Adams, this Restoration-era masque by Henry Purcell includes a libretto which is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s wedding comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
