Feb. 21 – 23, Friday – Sunday, “2014 Bill Koch Cross – Country Ski Festival,” this year’s Festival is titled Nordic Rocks at Quarry Road with a theme of The Rock, Water, Wind, and Fire Elements, the Rock element will be represented at the festival as rewards and thank you gifts traditionally harvested from the old quarry at Devils Chair, the Water element will be present as snow but we also have a beautiful meandering river you can gaze upon as you ski the River Loop, the element of Wind will be represented by the snow making machines which compress the air and blow the manmade snow onto the trails, we have asked for Mother Nature’s wind to be kept to a minimum for the weekend, the element of Fire will be enjoyed with a bonfire on Friday afternoon, if you want to bring your supplies to make s’mores, we will have marshmallow sticks available, free and open to the public, Central Maine Ski Club, Quarry Road, Waterville.
