Pleasant Lake Preserve, a 100-acre peninsula and 50-acre wetland, was donated to the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust to be forever undeveloped and managed for sustainable forest resources and low-impact, non-motorized recreation. Stetson is a rural town in central Maine with a population of 1,200. It’s known as “The Birthplace of Mt. Katahdin and Granger–the world’s largest oxen.”
Newport is only about a fifteen minute drive from Stetson and has shops to fulfill your basic needs. In a half hour, you can be at the Bangor Mall. From Portland, Pleasant Lake is a two hour drive, while it’s four hours from Boston.
Though enjoying the great escape by spending most of your time at your lakefront property on Pleasant Lake, you may want to make a day trip now and then. It’s easy driving for day trips to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor or the Moosehead Lake area and Katahdin Cruises.
