In fact, Bella is a writer, very imaginative and creative, but terribly shy, and when she is told she must marry because of the law in the land, she sets out to chance things, even if it means visiting the old hag in the swamp or believing in frog princes. Along the way meet characters such as Tootleream the Terrific, Franklin De’Croak, Queen Organza de Castleghent, Bella’s humor, complex characters, “swamp mayhem,” and songs such as, “Perfect Windelmere,” “When They Look at Me,” “Frogs on Logs,” “There Are Monsters!” and “My Only Chance,” this new twist on fairy tales is suitable for family members of all ages, $12 adults, $10 students and seniors, kids under 5 free, The Kaleidoscope Playhouse, 1602 West Beall Street, Belgrade, FMI: 207-587-3642, www.kytbozeman.org

Oct. 21, Monday, 10:00 a.m.-5 p.m., “Global Lens Films: Modest Reception, Paziraie Sadeh,” Leila and Kaveh are a mysterious pair from Tehran, traveling the mountainous countryside in their Lexus coupe to push big bags of money on the locals. This turns out to be not so easy, but fascinating to watch, as the cagey couple invent increasingly brazen stratagems to place cash in the hands of the wary, proud or indifferent. Will they push things too far? Are they losing sight of their mission? What exactly is their mission? Led by riveting performances from Taraneh Alidoosti and writer-director Mani Haghighi, this bold comedy-drama unfurls with unexpected force amid subtle themes of power, privilege and corruption, open public, free event, Bates College Museum of Art, Olin arts Center, 75 Russell Street, Lewiston, FMI: 207-786-6158, www.batescollegemuseum.com
