For over 25 years, Lakeside Sport & Marine has been a family-owned business that specializes in personal service and fun. Owners Scott and Karen Cudworth and Kimberly Gendreau provide everything you might need for a fun-filled day on the water from bait and tackle to boat rentals. Their fully-stocked store offers parts and accessories for all your boating and outdoor needs. Think hunting, fishing, ice fishing, boating and camping equipment, as well as apparel. They even sell live lobster!
The marine also boasts a full-time mechanic who repairs boat motors, chain saws, 4-wheelers and more–you name it and “if it burns gas,” chances are he’ll repair it.
Mousam Lake is the perfect setting for family vacations, swimming, boating and fishing. It’s located just over two hours from Boston and under an hour from Portland.
At 863 acres, the lake is one of the largest in the area. It’s lengthy shoreline provides a picture perfect retreat. Camps, cottages and year-round homes are hidden among the trees.
Mousam is one part of a chain of ponds and waterways. Square and Goose Ponds feed into Mousam Lake, which in turn serves as the headwaters for Mousam River. The town of Sanford maintains water levels through the Emory Mills Dam, a.k.a. the Mousam Lake Dam. The lake is divided into two basins by Emory Mills Road where you’ll find a public boat ramp. Upper Mousam is wide and deep with a maximum depth of 82 feet. Lower Mousam is much calmer, perfect for canoeing and fishing.
Mousam is known as an excellent cold and warm water fishery. Twenty-one fish varieties including black crappie, brook trout, brown bullhead, lake trout, landlocked salmon, largemouth bass and yellow perch can be caught here. Avid anglers come from all around for the fishing derbies and bass tournaments held on the lake throughout the year. At Lakeside Sport & Marine, they sell the much coveted “Beau’s Live Bait.”
