Kezar Lake, Lovell, Maine: Pristine Lakefront with Stunning Mountain Views

Stunning Mountain Views from Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine

Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine, will take your breath away when you own lakefront property here. At nine miles long with picturesque mountain views, it has been described as “one of the three most beautiful lakes in the world” by National Geographic.

Set in the foothills of the White Mountains, Kezar Lake encompasses 2,665 acres and has maximum depth of 155 feet with a mean depth of 34 feet. Water quality testing indicates an above average rank for this lake. The lake is divided into sections known locally as Upper Bay, Middle Bay and Lower Bay. The Narrows separates the latter two.
The Kezar Lake Watershed Association has been an extremely active group since it formed in 1969. Most of the lakefront property owners belong to the association–the people on this lake truly care about it. A town committee also cares about the Kezar Lake watershed–LIPPC or Lovell Invasive Plant Prevention Committee works to prevent the introduction or spread of non-invasive aquatic plants. Frequently during the summer months, they host “Eyes on the Water” events, and take people out on the lake to show them how to identify native plants and look for non-natives.
What kind of fish will I catch in Kezar Lake, you may ask. The principal fishery is smallmouth bass, lake trout, landlocked salmon, white perch and chain pickerel. And where can I launch my boat? Two boat ramps are located on the lake–at Upper Bay and at the Town Landing Beach, just after The Narrows and Kezar Lake Marina.
The marina offers boat rentals, sales, service, storage and rental slips. It’s also home to the Loon’s Nest Restaurant–so named for the many loons that nest on the lake. Other wildlife to watch for include the following: blue herons, bald eagles, moose, and deer.
Known as a summer resort area since the late 1800s, Lovell’s natural beauty and peacefulness attract people to this small town along the lake.  Recreational possibilities include kayaking, fishing, swimming and boating on the lake, hiking the Greater Lovell Land Trust properties or in the White Mountains, golfing at nearby Lake Kezar Country Club and skiing or riding at nearby Shawnee Peak and Sunday River.
As quiet as the lake and town are, Lovell is home to some other amazing places including Ebenezers Pub, The Brick Church for Performing Arts and Harvest Gold Gallery. Stephen King is a long-time summer resident, and his philanthropy has greatly benefited the town.
Kezar Lake is located three hours from Boston and one hour northwest of Portland. It’s just a short drive to Bridgton and Bethel, Maine and North Conway, New Hampshire.
When you are ready to get away from it all, think Maine lakefront real estate on Kezar Lake. For the size of it, it’s a quiet lake in a quiet town. All that nature has to offer is right here hidden in the foothills of the White Mountains. Imagine yourself sitting on the screened in porch of your waterfront cabin as you take in the scent of the pines and balsams, listen to the call of the loons and see the spectacular views at sunset.
