There are so many fun things to do in the York County/Sanford Lakes Region of Maine from spending time on the lake, to visiting York Animal Kingdom, watching a performance at Hackmatack Theatre, listening to a concert at the Cornish Bandstand, attending an event at the Nasson Community Center or hiking a trail through the Waterboro Barrens.
Summer at your lakefront retreat in the York County/Sanford Lakes Region of Maine is enhanced by meals made from local produce. And if you don’t have the time or space to grow your own, you’ll find farmers’ markets in many of our small towns and villages, as well as cities.
At each farmers’ market a variety of vendors offer quality fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, flowers, baked good, eggs, meats, fresh and dried herbs, soaps, cheese, yarn, maple syrup, plants and more. You can chat with the local farmers, meet your neighbors and contribute to the economic vitality of the town.

North Berwick: Fridays, 3-6 p.m., opens in mid-June, Millfield off of Route 9.

Sanford: Fridays, 8 a.m.-noon, May-October, Route 109 next to Sanford Institution for Savings Bank.
Springvale: Wednesdays & Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon, May-October, Rite-Aid parking lot on Springvale Square.
Wells: Wednesdays, 1:30-5:00 p.m. Late May-October, Wells Town Hall parking lot, Rte 109, half mile from Rte 1. FMI: www.wellsfarmersmarket.org.
