Driven by grief and supernatural prophecy as well as the towering ambition of his wife, Macbeth leaves in his wake a path of murder, deceit and destruction. The play explores the nature of loss, the price of war and the lengths one is willing to go to rise above one’s circumstances. Aug. 2, Thursday, 7:30pm, “Abraham Ross Organ Concert,” Abraham Ross of Oberlin, Ohio, who will perform music of Amy Beach, Rolande Falcinelli, and Joan Tower on Maine’s largest 19th century mechanical-action pipe organ. Abraham Ross performs regularly as a soloist and an ensemble player with special interests in early music and twentieth-century repertoire, donations appreciated, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor. Aug. 3, Friday, 7pm, “Broadway and Beyond,” Singers Emily Cain, Kelly Caufield and Matthew Small, along with pianist Dr. Laura Artesani, will perform “Broadway & Beyond.” The “Broadway & Beyond” team of friends has joined forces to perform musical theater, pop, standards and more for nearly 20 years. These New England-based entertainers relish the opportunity to connect with one another — and their audiences — through music. Aside from their many concert appearances as soloist and ensemble members, Cain, Caufield and Small have appeared together with the University of Maine Singers, UMaine School of Performing Arts productions, Renaissance/The Maine Steiners a cappella ensembles Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake and other performing arts organizations. Aug. 5, Sunday, 4pm, “Classical Pianist and Composer Deborah Fortier,” Fortier has been performing and teaching piano in the Northeast for 45 years. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Villa Schifanoia Graduate School of Applied Arts in Florence, Italy, (M.Mus.), her teachers include Maria Clodes, Orazio Frugoni, and Zelma Bodzin. Aug. 8, Wednesday, 6pm, “Tribute to Frank Sinatra with the Hal McIntyre Orchestra,” the Hal McIntyre Orchestra and Boston-based crooner Steve Marvin will perform A Tribute To Frank Sinatra, in honor off “The Chairman of the Board.” Under the direction of Don Pendleton, the big band ensemble will celebrate the iconic singer on stage at the Gracie Theatre. Singer Steve Marvin is well-versed in performing the jazzy vocals of “Ol’ Blue Eyes.” Over the years, he’s headlined countless revues and tributes, belting out “Luck Be a Lady,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Fly Me to the Moon” and other timeless tunes.
