Five stories of love and loss from Wilde’s collection of stories for young people, The Happy Prince and Other Tales, are woven together with Wilde’s later verse in this innovative theatrical vision. A statue and his friend test the limits of generosity; a nightingale sacrifices everything for the sake of true love; a giant builds a wall to keep children out of his garden; a family of ducks try to teach a water rat about compassion, and a self-important firework finds his purpose. Feb. 23-25, Friday-Sunday, 8pm/Fri. and Sat, 5pm/Sat, 3pm/Sun, ‘The Grand Tour Plays The Highway Men: A Tribute to Willie, Waylon, Johnny and Kris,” the same band that paid toe-tapping tribute to George Jones in the fall of 2016 is returning to the Bangor Opera House to pay tribute to “the Mount Rushmore of country music.” The Highwaymen was American country music’s first bona fide supergroup, an epic quartet of outlaw country’s pioneering stars.
