Feb. 2, Friday, 6:30pm, “Celtic Revival,” The Sky Family’s production Celtic Revival bring world-class Irish dance to lively Celtic/pop-rock music and song rich in harmonies. Woven throughout are humorous stories and inspirational testimonies. Each member performs on several instruments and all contribute to the rich vocal harmonies and dance, by donation, Norway Church of the Nazarene, 10 Grove Street, Norway. Feb. 2, Friday, 7pm, “The Syringa Tree,” one actress. Twenty-four characters. Hailing from Maine, young Courtney Wood is bringing her touring production of The Syringa Tree to her alma mater, Falmouth High School. The Syringa Tree, by Pamela Gien, is a story of an abiding love between two families, one black, one white, and the two children born into their shared household in the early 1960’s South Africa. Seen through the eyes of a child, six-year-old Elizabeth tries to make sense of the chaos, magic and darkness of her experience. The story of these families’ destinies spans four generations from early apartheid to present day free South Africa. Feb. 3, Saturday, 1pm, “Flower Craft: creating with print, dried & pressed botanicals,” create you own glass window art with dried, pressed and printed botanical materials. Using our materials of in-house pressed and dried botanicals, as well as some wonderful printed materials, along with some non-plant materials, you will design and craft a unique creation. Due to the nature of this workshop, namely the use of fragile materials & soldering iron, we ask that those that wish to bring children do so with discretion. Feb. 3, Saturday, 7pm, “Bold Riley,” Music with a Mission is proud to kick off its sixth season by featuring Bold Riley for an evening of folk music. Bold Riley started as a simple music project among friends, but quickly gained momentum. Comprising members from all over southern Maine, the group is known for its soaring vocal harmonies and diverse instrumentation.
