Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years. July 8-9, Saturday-Sunday, 10am-4pm, “Arts in the Park,” one of the most respected juried fine arts and crafts festivals in Mid-coast Maine. The variety of artwork and crafts is outstanding, and continuous live music and the smells of freshly grilled food add to the festival atmosphere. July 10, Monday, 2pm and 7:30pm, “Peter Oyloe and The Hank Bank,” lead by Oyloe and playing songs that capture the timeless music of a bygone era, The Hank Band is comprised of passionate musicians inspired by the music and the poetry of Hank Williams Sr. It’s more than a “cover band” with Oyloe taking on the full persona of the country music legend. The show includes more than 20 of the singer’s most popular songs, including hits like “Long Gone Daddy,” Honky Tonk Blues,” I Saw the Light,” “Jambalaya” and more. July 10, Monday, 7:30pm, “Parker Quartet,” the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet makes their highly anticipated Bowdoin Festival debut. While remaining Blodgett Artists-in-Residence at Harvard University, they have spent the past season touring the United States and Europe, collaborating with classical and jazz artists and releasing a recording of Mendelssohn Quartets. Their program opens with the Third String Quartet of Shostakovich, one of the twentieth-century masters of the quartet genre.
