July 1-3, Saturday-Monday, 10am-4pm, “Colonial Militia Encampment,” Colonial Militia Encampment Re-Enactment at 19th Century Curran Homestead Village at Newfield, formerly Willowbrook Museum, 70 Elm Street, Newfield, ME 04056. There will be a presentation of pre-Rev. War militia camp life by the 2nd Regiment of York (Maine). Lots of things to see and touch. The museum will also have tours available at 10AM, 12Noon, & 2PM. There will be a presentation of letterpress printing, blacksmithing, woodstove cooking, a red schoolhouse and ride our 1894 horse carousel. July 1, Saturday, 6:30pm, “Strafford Wind Symphony,” a 55 member ensemble made up of a cross section of community members dedicated to presenting wonderful music with a professional flair. They perform for the experience of playing music with other talented wind musicians and to bring their passion for wind instrumentation to audiences all over New Hampshire, Southern Maine and parts of Massachusetts. Their presentation is for young and old alike with a blend of crowd pleasing traditional music mixed with heart thumping patriotic tunes.
