An African-American cable repairman in a Manhattan high-rise condominium apartment to fix the cable reception of a high-strung, Jewish woman. Feb. 17, Friday, 7:30pm, “Encounters in Sound featuring Jed Wilson & Mike Sakash,” Bradley Backstage presents the final Encounters in Sound concert with pianist Jed Wilson. Wilson, best known for his appearances on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion and collaborations with singer/songwriter Heather Masse, will be accompanied by saxophonist Mike Sakash. Mike has performed, recorded, and toured with the Phoenix Jazz Project and the Traverser Saxophone Quartet, in addition to being a regular member of the Portland Jazz Orchestra. His latest recording project included legendary bebop alto saxophonist, Richie Cole, and Maynard Ferguson’s longtime trombonist, Reggie Watkins. The CD, titled, “Wood Dance” is scheduled for release in June 2017. Feb. 18, Saturday, 8pm, “Junco,” Hailing from the hills of Fryeburg, Maine, Junco performs an original blend of folk and rock music. Friends since their years at Fryeburg Academy, Junco is made up of guitarist Jeremy Holden, drummer Alex Ouellette, singer/guitarist Bobby Sheehan, bassist Kelsey Sheehan, and oboist Dan Stackhouse. In May 2015, the band released their debut EP, Waking the Sleeping Giant. The EP’s leadoff song, “Baga Dada,” won them the 93.5 WMWV Local Song of the Year Contest in 2012.
