Bring a friend, some nibbles and beverage and enjoy a creative night out at River Tree Arts. Nov. 18, Friday, 7:30pm, “Tales of the Round Table,” November is the time for remembering and a time of telling stories. The Arthurian legends emerged during a time when our ancestors gathered during the darkening nights to pass the time by telling each other stories. They told stories of what it was like to be a hero, to struggle with life, to love and to let go. Enchanted Kings and Faerie Women tell some of the lesser known tales from the Knights of the Round Table. Come hear Margaret Jones and Michael Howard tell the tale of Igraine who must dig deep to find the courage to let go, Merlin who gives everything for love and Ragnell whose breath could flatten a hundred knights. Nov. 20, Sunday, 3pm, “Martin Grosswendt & Susanne Salem-Schatz,” Grosswendt and Salem-Schatz explore the highways and byways of American traditional music with skill, grace, and a touch of wry humor. Each a powerful musician in their own right, their extraordinary vocal chemistry and harmonies never fail to move listeners. With material ranging from pre-war blues, old-time, honky tonk and more, this duo demonstrates the exponential power of two.  Grosswendt is internationally-known as one of the most versatile and accomplished musicians working in contemporary roots music. He has been said to “live at the intersection of old-time music and the blues.” He began his career accompanying and recording with such legendary figures as U. Utah Phillips, Rosalie Sorrels, and Jim Ringer & Mary McCaslin. Partner Susanne Salem-Schatz, a veteran of the Boston roots music scene, is likewise at home in a number of styles of American roots music. Nov. 20, Sunday, 10am-2pm, “Brunch & Silent Auction/Raffle,” The Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center will hold its fourth annual Give Thanks ~ Give Hope Benefit Brunch.  The Nonantum Resort’s chefs will prepare a delicious brunch, including a chef-attended omelet bar. A fabulous silent auction and a raffle packed with great prizes will cap the event.  This event will benefit the Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center located in downtown Biddeford. Nov. 20, Sunday, 2pm, “Mike Rogers and Co,” Songwriter, guitarist and poet Mike Rogers presents scenes and characters in his life of seventy-five years on the road from coast to coast, New England to the Caribbean. This one man show is laced with Mike’s wry humor and poignant moments and includes portraits of people “outside the circle” in song, storytelling and poetry. Mike accompanies himself on his guitar and his signature harmonica.
