In roaring twenties Chicago, Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap…until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Nov. 5, Saturday, 4pm, “Resinosa Ensemble: Music by Women Composers through the Ages,” Resinosa Ensemble will perform a varied program of music written by women composers, such as: Hildegard von Bingen, Barbara Strozzi, Gabriella Ortiz, Libby Larsen, Marti Epstein, Florence Price and Amy Beach. Joëlle Morris has sung as a recitalist, jazz singer, and in the French cabaret style, throughout the U.S., France and Switzerland. She serves on the faculties of Colby College, UMF, Snow Pond Community School and L’Ecole Francaise du Maine. Eliza Meyer performs regularly with the Portland and Bangor Symphonies and other music ensembles throughout New England. She serves on the faculties of the Pineland Suzuki School, Snow Pond Community School and maintains a private studio. Bridget Convey has performed throughout U.S. as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician. She serves on the faculty of Bates College and maintains a private studio. Nov. 5, Saturday, 12:55pm, “The Met: Don Giovanni,” Aided by his ingenious librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, Mozart approached his operatic retelling of the Don Juan myth from a point of view that is neither tragic nor entirely comic, but rather lighthearted, urbane, and ironic. We follow the title character and his earthy comic sidekick, Leporello, through a series of encounters that begins with a fatal duel, moves back and forth between the humorous and the sentimental, and ends with the protagonist being dragged down to hell, $20/adults, $18/seniors, Waterville Opera House, 93 Main Street, Waterville. A cast of local actors, characters and dignitaries provide clues to help figure out “whodunnit.” The evening will be a celebration of creativity, community, and fun!
