Sept. 8-11 and 13-14, Thursday-Sunday and Tuesday-Wednesday, 2:30pm/Thurs, Tues and Wed, 7pm/Sun, 8pm/Thurs, Fri and Tues, 8:30pm/Sat, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” Pull up your boots and hold onto your hats when this all-dancing, all-singing, all-new production of the rip-roarin’ musical comedy classic bursts onto the stage with rambunctious energy. This big, brawling, rollicking show is set in 1850s Oregon Territory and tells the story of Adam Pontipee and his backwoods brothers’ unusual pursuit of brides. When Adam goes to town to get a wife, he miraculously convinces Milly to marry him that same day, and she immediately starts reforming her six rowdy brothers-in-law. Sept. 8-14, Thursday-Wednesday, various times/venues, “26th Annual Capriccio Ogunquit’s Festival of the Arts,” showcasing Ogunquit’s rich cultural heritage. Capriccio is defined as “a joyous musical composition or work of art, in free form, and brilliant in style.” It’s a perfect title for Ogunquit’s town-wide Festival of the Arts, this year marking its 26th year of celebrating and saluting Ogunquit’s wonderful arts organizations. Coordinated by Ogunquit Performing Arts, an expanded Festival is planned, occurring September 4th through September 18th, 2016, throughout Ogunquit. Participants will include the major arts organizations in town, churches, art galleries, service organizations and local businesses. Events will include concerts, new exhibits and receptions, meet-and-greets with area authors, historical look-backs, special tours of theatres and art galleries, and the art of kite-flying, see site for various events and venues, Downtown, Ogunquit. Sept. 9, Friday, 8pm, “Comedy with Kevin Meaney,” Emmy Award winner KEVIN MEANEY has been one of the country’s most popular standup comedians for more than 25 years. Sept. 10-11, Saturday-Sunday, 10am, “28th Annual Summer Solstice Craft Show,” Enjoy browsing the wares of the 70 + Maine & New England artists and crafters. Traditional, contemporary and country crafts are featured. The juried craft show includes candles, wood crafts, fiber art, graphics, photography, pottery, jewelry, stained glass and much more. The show also includes music by folk musician Carolyn Currie of Cumberland. Beach Dawgs Café will be offering luncheon specials and snacks. Sept. 10, Saturday, 12pm/post time, “Cornish Horseman’s Day,” This year’s racing includes 8 exhibition harness racing events where amateur and “wanna be” drivers participate to demonstrate their skills. The Standardbred Pleasure Horse Owners of Maine – owners of retired race horses – are the designated parade marshals for the matinee harness races. Known throughout New England’s race circuit, well-known farrier Ernest Lowell of Saco, ME, will also demonstrate horseshoe making throughout the day. Sept. 10, Saturday, 7:30pm, “A Day in the Life: A Beatles Experience,” the ultimate multimedia celebration of the most recognized band of all time…The Beatles! This nostalgic concert experience brings the audience back to a time when all you needed was peace, love, and rock and roll.
