Aug. 18, Thursday, 8pm, “Eastern Trail Full Moon Walk,” Meet the group at the rear of the Southern Maine Health Center parking lot in Biddeford. The route includes a pond that has seen a great deal of beaver activity. Learn about the plants, trees and wildlife along the trail. Learn the history of the Eastern Trail. The walk takes approximately 90 minutes. Aug. 19, Friday, 7pm, “Lex and Joe,” the Historical Society of Wells & Ogunquit presents a concert of swing and jazz music performed by Lex and Joe with special guest Jon Ross to celebrate an era of Artists Balls and the gang that came to hear “The Ice House Five” play in an ice house in Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove in the 1950’s. Mike Horn, who played clarinet in the original group, has shared the set list of songs to give the evening an authentic sound! The concert is part of, Music in the Meetinghouse, a new series of history-based performances by musicians inspired by the musical history of our local towns. Lex and Joe have played music in Ogunquit and up and down the East Coast for over thirty years. A shared interest in the fabled swing era has resulted in this enduring musical collaboration. Lex Romane plays guitar, electric bass, and sings most of the songs. Joe Riillo plays saxophones, clarinet and flute. They will be joined by friend and accomplished musician, Jon Ross, on acoustic bass and vocals.
