Nov. 19-21, Thursday-Saturday, 7pm, “Spelling Bee, the Musical,” Orono High School is preparing for its upcoming musical production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” This show features six actors portraying adolescents. Spellers soar and stumble through words as the audience learns their stories and discovers why they want to win “the bee,” $7, Orono High School Cafeteria, 14 Goodridge Rd, Orono. Nov. 19-21, Thursday-Saturday, 7pm, “Curtains, the Musical,” a comedic whodunit, the production is directed by BHS teacher Deb Elz-Hammond with George Redman as music director. Original choreography was created by BHS junior Lauren Elwood. Costumes were designed by BHS senior Vanessa Graham, and sets were designed by BHS graduate and current Husson University student Logan Bard. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store.
