Oct. 8, Thursday, 7pm, “Master Fiddler – Greg Boardman and Neil Pearlman,” Greg has been one of northern New Englands most influential musicians. Taught the intricacies of regional “Down East” fiddling by Otto Saper and Simon St. Pierre, he is the founder of the Maine Fiddle Camp. Pianist and mandolinist Pearlman is rapidly distinguishing himself as a uniquely innovative artist in the contemporary traditional music scene. Oct. 9, Friday, 8-1opm, “Comedy Fix XXXIV,” hilarious stand-up comedy and unpredictable improv are on tap for Comedy Fix XXIV. The comedy fundraising series presents Maine’s premier improv group Running with Scissors. Comedy Fix founder and host Mark Turcotte will also welcome stand-up comedians Brian Plumb, John Dennis, Mark Gallagher and Sam Pelletier. All net proceeds from the show will benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank, which feeds over 36,000 Mainers each week in all 16 counties. With over 35 years of collective improv comedy experience, Rachel Flehinger, Dennis Hunt, Tom Walsh and Tuck Tucker create a new show every time based on audience suggestions. Oct. 10, Saturday, 11:30am-6:30pm, “Swine and Stein Fest,” Water Street in Historic Gardiner will be transformed as Gardiner Main Street produces its eccentric version of a traditional Oktoberfest. Our 6th annual event includes an oompah band as well as scrumptious pork, and other creative culinary dishes, a wide selection of Maine craft beers, and entertainment from some of Maine’s best musicians. The festivities begin at 11:30am and run through 6:30pm. A number of popular restaurants and street vendors from across the state will be teaming up to serve an array of pork-driven dishes, including succulent pulled pork and sausages of all sorts.
