He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, and the perfect foil for Norman, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. The Addams family, led by the elegant and seemingly undead Morticia and her ever-devoted husband Gomez, is in turmoil. Their daughter Wednesday, now 18, finds herself falling in love—a sensation that is unsettling for both her and her family of endearing misfits. June 20, Saturday, 1-4pm, “Scribner’s Mill Open House,” The 1847 Scribner’s Lumber Mill still produces and demonstrates the manufacture of barrels and shingles. It also has a display of the original sash saw works that produced dimensional lumber. The 1849 Homestead is interpreted as it was modernized in 1924 and tells the story of the Scribner family who operated this early industrial site, $5, Mill and Homestead Tour, 244 Scribners Mill Road, Harrison. June 20, Saturday, 7pm, “Erica Brown & The Bluegrass Connection,” Erica developed an interest in music at an early age. At the age of seven, she was competing in fiddle contests with kids twice her age. At age nine, she was traveling throughout New England, Canada, and even Louisiana with the Maine French Fiddlers. Erica also performed as a special guest with Mac McHale And The Old-Time Radio Gang for five years. Currently, she has her own bluegrass band, Erica Brown & The Bluegrass Connection, which performs all over New England. Erica is also a member of The Stowaways, Darlin’ Corey and The Record Family Band. Erica Brown was a recipient of a 2006 Maine Arts Commission Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Award and was recognized as a Master Artist by the Maine Arts Commission that same year. Also in 2006 she received the Harold Carter Memorial Award from the Down East Country Music Association.
