May 2, Saturday, 10am-3pm, “Kids Central,” with the help of local businesses, museums, and other arts and non-profit organizations, families will enjoy a wealth of fun and free activities both indoors and outside. From soda making to tie dying, face painting to building your own cannoli, there are activities for everyone ages 12 and under. Special guest Maine author/illustrator Chris Van Dusen is returning to the festival this year and will read from his beloved children’s books as well as autograph copies. Many more great activities are planned throughout the day including the annual Superhero Costume Contest, chalk art and Box City cardboard building blocks. May 3, Sunday, 4pm, “The Song Goes On, Celebrating Pete Seeger,” Voices for Peace will celebrate the activist and musician with a concert and sing-along. Seeger, who rarely held a concert without inviting folks to join him, kept folk music alive and influenced generations of musicians from Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen to Voices for Peace!
