In case it isn’t obvious to you, there are a number of reasons why owning lakefront property in Maine should be on your must do list.

Here are a few to get you thinking:
1. There’s always something to do–boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, waterskiing, etc.
2. Water is relaxing–it’s known to provide renewal and stress relief.
3. Lakes provide important wildlife habitat–you’ll see different wildlife than in an urban or suburban neighborhood.
4. Your lakehouse will be the “go to” place for family and friends–as long as you want it to be so.
5. Or your lakehouse might be the private retreat you’ve been dreaming of–the place to really get away from it all, including family and friends.
6. Do yoga on the dock or teach your kids to fish.
7. Owning a lakefront property gives you an excuse to buy a boat–or two or three. Think motorboat, canoe, kayaks, etc.
8. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.
9. Each season offers its own beauty.
10. Every day will feel like a vacation–whether you are actually on vacation or working from your lakefront property.
11. A farmers’ market or farm stand is located somewhere near by.
12. Perfect hikes and bike rides are right outside your door.
13. Life takes on a slower pace.
14. Starry nights are common–you’ll never tire of viewing the constellations.
15. Location, location, location–you can be near a city or the highway within minutes, or choose a more remote spot.
16. Gain a sense of community–frequent local businesses and join your lake or road association and you’ll feel like you fit in in no time.
17. You’ll learn to appreciate summer more–once it arrives. 🙂
18. Our lakes are within commuting distance of Portland and Boston–even New York.
19. The haunting cry of the loon provides nightly entertainment.
20. Maine is the land of many lakes–5,785 or so, if you count all the bodies of water of one acre or more.
It’s important to love where you live or recreate. I hope this list gives you reasons to think about purchasing lakefront property in the lakes regions of Maine. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones, like me, who already lives here … then I’ve just reminded you why you love it so much!
