Lakefront House Located Close to Water’s Edge, Windham, Maine

This family-oriented lakefront house sits at water’s edge on Forest Lake in Windham, Maine.  Purchase this charmer at 64 Forest Avenue and you’ll own a tranquil retreat only 20 minutes from Portland–the best of both worlds.

Ralph purchased the 2,403 square-foot house in 2000 because “for me, the ‘location, location, location’ real estate theme holds true here, as the location of this solidly built, year-round home is perfect.”

On the first floor, you’ll find an open interior that includes a well-equipped kitchen, including a built-in trash compactor. While the house is fully heated by oil, Ralph tells us that “the wood-burning stove is a special joy” that adds to the cozy atmosphere. From the heated porch overlooking the lake, imagine watching the sun slowly sink into the horizon. Ralph says that from the picture windows, you can also enjoy the July 4th fireworks display.

The first floor also features three bedrooms, including a master bedroom with sliding glass doors.  “Even when lying in bed,” says Ralph, “just open your eyes and see the lake.”

Upstairs, you’ll find a bonus in-law or rental apartment with a separate private entrance. It has one bedroom, a full bath, living room and kitchen. A perfect place for your visitors to retreat at the end of the day.
You’ll love the drinking water. “It comes from an inexhaustible well, is rated B plus and is compensated for by the centralized Culligan purification system,” explains Ralph. “Even the shower water is pure.”
Speaking of water, Forest Lake encompasses 210 acres. One of the reasons it is such a gem is that there is no public access. And the fishing is great–think smallmouth bass and chain pickerel.  As Ralph says, “Forest Lake is a great example of a small pristine Maine lake that people often fantasize about.” The property features 85 feet of lake frontage with a dock–waiting for you to take a plunge into the crystal clear water.

With the dock, a large patio and outdoor fire pit, you’ll need to make time for family picnics. Invite everyone over to relax by the water, take the boat out, fish or ice fish. The possibilities to make memories are endless.
So if it’s such a perfect place, you must wonder why Ralph is selling. “Old age, ill health and a need to downsize,” he says. “Otherwise, I would never think of leaving this place.”
What are you waiting for? Peaceful tranquility, loons, views, easy access to Portland–. It can all be yours to begin enjoying immediately.
