April 4, Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., “Saco Bay Artists,” the mission of Saco Bay Artists is to help members in their efforts to further their skills in the fine art medium of his/her choice through fellowship and free exchange of ideas and information, Saco Bay Artists seeks to enhance members’ skills and provide forums to exhibit and sell their art work, those forums include workshops, critiques, live demonstrations, group outings, paint outs and summer art shows, the group also participates in the promotion of art and culture as well as public service in the local community, free and open to the public, Dyer Community Gallery, Dyer Library, 371 Main Street, Saco. April 4, Friday, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., “Thief of Bagdad, Silent Film,” River Tree Arts will be hosting the 1924 epic silent film, The Thief of Bagdad, with a improvised live musical score, this highly budgeted gem directed by Raoul Walsh was intended to be the Lord of the Rings or Titanic of its day, starring the Hollywood swashbuckler, Douglas Fairbanks, the film was a financial flop despite box office success, it still endures time because of Walsh’s complete artistic vision, featuring faculty past and present, lead by the River Tree’s Music Department coordinator, Duane Edwards, The Thief of Bagdad will be an exciting all ages production showcasing the great link of music and film, the film runs at 2 ½ hours long, a 15 minute intermission will be provided with light refreshments, $10 admission, River Tree Arts, 35 Western Avenue, Kennebunk.
