Catch the Morning Sunrise from Updated Cape on Thompson Lake in Casco, Maine

Enjoy Views From Large Deck Overlooking Thompson Lake, Casco, Maine

Let this beautiful cape nestled on a serene half acre lakefront lot overlooking Thompson Lake in Casco, Maine, become your getaway destination. Whether you live here year round or slip away to the house at 35 Upper Shore Road for weekends and vacations, you’ll find it’s an ideal place to relax.

The two-floor house features six rooms, including three bedrooms and 1.5 baths. On the first floor,  large windows and doors bring the outdoors into the open concept kitchen, dining and living rooms. The kitchen has been updated and features steel appliances.

The dining and living rooms, aka the great room, have a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams. Because of the cathedral ceiling, there are more windows above the first floor that allow even more natural light into the living space. A wood stove is set on a field stone hearth on the outside wall of the great room.

Two bedrooms complete the first floor. Climb the stairs to the second floor and discover a reading nook or office space at the landing. The master bedroom suite is located on this floor.

The 1,144-square-foot house is ideal for a family ready to play and relax on the waterfront.  Step outside and you’ll be on a deck that spans the width of the house. Certainly, this will become your favorite location–it’s large and is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and the sunrise as well as an evening cocktail while dinner is cooking on the grill. 1123854_801_12

A small, grassy yard slopes gently to the water and 100’ sandy beach. A long dock extends into the lake and you can easily tie two power boats to it. “The gradual beach entry and sandy swimming area are hard to find, especially in a part of the lake that is deep enough for boating and fishing,” the owners tell us. 1123854_601_12

Thompson Lake encompasses 4,426 acres with a maximum depth of 121 feet. The bottom can be seen to a depth of 35 feet–yes, it has above average water quality. It is twelve miles long and two miles wide, so there’s plenty of water for you to play on or in.

Though the lake is rated one of the ten best lakes in Maine because of its superb water quality, it’s a fairly quiet lake in terms of boat traffic. It won’t take you long to realize you’ve escaped from the overcrowded lakes in the Sebago Lakes Region. The current owners, Jeff and Denise, tell us, “Thompson Lake is not crowded, even on beautiful holiday summer weekends.  It is large enough to support a mix of powerboats, kayaks, canoes and sailboats.  We love the lake and have enjoyed visiting for many years.”
“There’s a nice mix of year-round residents that gives the area a sense of community,” they tell us. “Summers on the lake remain much less crowded than other lakes in the area, especially for the size.”
One of the reasons Jeff and Denise purchased the cape in 2013 is because of the gentle sloping beach, the camp feel to the house and the views. “Why are they selling a year later?” you ask.  They would like to purchase a larger place. They don’t want to expand this house on Upper Shore Road because “it is well balanced and a very appropriate size for this lot. We would like to buy another place on the lake with a larger home that can handle our extended family even better.  We can’t imagine leaving the lake altogether.”
For you, the size may be just right. Imagine enjoying glorious sunrises, days spent swimming and playing on the lake, and sunset cruises. Give it some thought, but don’t wait too long.
