March 20, Thursday – Saturday, 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” a musical by Rupert Holmes, directed by Wil Kilroy, musical direction by Edward Reichert, choreography by Vanessa Beyland, Charles Dickens died before he could finish his extraordinary murder novel, and that is only the beginning of the mystery. Both sinister and hilarious, this Tony Award-winning musical picks up where Dickens left off. This is like no theatre you’ve ever seen, where the audience plays detective and even votes on who the murderer is. March 21, Friday, 8:00 p.m. showtime, “The Award Winning Fryeburg Academy Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensembles,” so if ever there was a time to come out and support this community of kids, it’s this one, they have all worked very hard this year, endured a few growing pains a long the way, and now have some great music to share with you, no, these kids don’t have to come here to SMAC every year…they have a beautiful facility at the Academy, but for one night they can grace our stage where big stars like Bela Fleck, Lyle Lovett, and Aaron Neville have come before them, who knows, these kids could be the big stars of tomorrow and in a political climate where music education is not always a priority, to have such a prestigious high school group right here in our own backyard is very lucky indeed, show them how proud you are and come out and see these terrific young people do their award winning best, $18 per person, Stone Mountain Arts Center, 695 Dug Way Road, Brownfield.
