Echo Lake Shimmers in Autumn Sunlight, Fayette, Maine

Nestled in the foothills of the Belgrade Lakes Region of Maine is the small town of Fayette. With no town center, it truly is a place where you can take time to slow down and smell the wildflowers and white pines.



Through the Kennebec Land Trust, several properties in Fayette have been protected so that they will remain forever natural. We encourage you to check them out during all seasons.
Parker Pond Headland Preserve
The preserve includes a 100-acre peninsula with 5,000 feet of rocky shoreline overlooking Parker Pond. Two trails loop through the woodland. From a granite ledge, you can enjoy great views of the pond.

Trail Access: Fellows Cove Road, Fayette
Echo Lake Watershed Preserve
Over three hundred acres along Echo Lake form this preserve that is adjacent to the Readfield’s Torsey Pond Nature Preserve. There are no marked trails, but hikers are welcome.

Trail Access: Route 41, Fayette
Mathews Wildlife Habitat
Look for an opening in the stonewall as your entrance to this 17 acre property. Wildflowers and woodlands will greet walkers. There are no marked trails.

Meadow Brook and Sturtevant Farm Conservation Area
Encompassing 327 acres, hikers are welcome to explore these two properties. Walk along the brook and woodlands of Meadow Brook Farm, a working farm. Trails also lead to the Sturtevant Homestead, which dates back to the 18th century.
