One-Story House For Sale On Watchic Lake Will Make Your Dreams Come True

Move-In Ready Home On Watchic Lake in Standish, Maine

One-floor living awaits at this turn-key home on Watchic Lake in Standish. Located at 65 Eleanor Avenue, the house is set back from the water on a fairly flat lot of 1.3 acres.

Built in 1974, the house features three bedrooms plus one and a half baths. An updated kitchen is crisp and cheery with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and a breakfast nook. For those occasions when you desire a more formal setting, there’s a dining room with a beautiful stone fireplace–ready to add a glow to any meal. The living room receives a lot of natural light and woodland views.

In the basement of this 2,426-square-foot home, you’ll find a game room and laundry area. And outside–a patio, outhouse and fenced-in yard. There’s also an attached two-car garage.

During their tenure here, the sellers raised “two awesome sons.” As the boys grew up, the family “used to snowmobile, enjoyed bonfire get-togethers, played volleyball on the court in front and had lots of friends for sleep-overs.” They put in a pool, so pool parties were often on the agenda as well. The pool has been removed, but the fenced-in area remains–perfect if you have younger children or pets. With the size of the house and lot, the property easily accommodates large gatherings.

By the water, there’s a fire pit for campfires, s’mores and chats under the star-lit sky. And when it’s time to sleep, the house setting invites quiet slumber and pleasant dreams.

The sellers purchased the property because they liked the location–life is tranquil on Watchic Lake. There is no public access–meaning only your neighbors are on the lake. The Watchic Lake Association is very active and the water is clean and clear. The lake encompasses 448 acres and has a maximum depth of 48 feet.

The sellers tell us they would change nothing and one of their favorite features is the view–both woodland and lake.

While it’s time for the sellers to retire and possibly move south, this year-round home on Watchic Lake is move-in ready and waiting for you. Just bring your toothbrush.
Once you live here, you’ll want to paddle or motor about the lake, looking for bald eagles, osprey, loons and a variety of other water fowl. And fishing enthusiasts will also be delighted with this pristine lake. Large and smallmouth bass are abundant. White perch and chain pickerel are also great catches. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) introduced largemouth bass into Watchic Pond in 1956. MDIFW says that the lake still provides excellent angling opportunities and includes it on its list of Maine Bass Waters–a list of some of the many waters in Maine that offer fine bass fishing.

It’s time to live your dreams. You can enjoy unsurpassed serenity only minutes from Portland, Maine, meaning easy access to work, major shopping and cultural events.
