Sept. 12, Thursday, 2-4pm, Peaks with Perks Concert, the performance will feature Maine’s first family of “Old Timey Downeast Music”, the Gawler Family. The Gawler Family is made up of John and Ellen Gawler and their three daughters, Molly, Edith, and Elsie. Based out of Belgrade, Maine, they are a fun-loving, folk singing group known for mixing harmonies with fiddles, banjos, cellos, guitars, ukuleles and the piano, tickets must be purchased in advance, Stratton Brook Hut only accessible via a 3-mile hike or bike-ride in and out, $30/concert ticket, $110/concert ticket, overnight lodging at the Stratton Brook Hut and breakfast, Maine Huts & Trails, Main Street, Kingfield. Sept. 13, Friday, 7pm, Poetry Reading, Welsh poet Willliam Ayot, William’s powerful and accessible poetry speaks directly to the heart as he charts an underworld journey through loss and alienation, to self-acceptance, reconciliation and a sense of belonging. Sept. 14, Saturday, 1-9pm, Pie & Arts at Norlands – featuring Bill Berlinghoff, Northfield, Edith & Bennett & The Gawler Family, afternoon activities (1pm-5pm) include a pie sale, concert by folk singer Bill Berlinghoff, a Victorian fashion show, and tours of the elegant 1867 Washburn family mansion. In the evening, a corned beef dinner will be served in the historic farmer’s cottage from 5-6pm.
