Scenic Overlook in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine

Lakefront property owners and vacationers in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine have the best of all worlds in any season. They can ski at Saddleback Maine in the winter, hike there in the spring, summer and fall, or rent a boat from Saddleback Marina located in Oquossuc Cove during the summer season.

The marina offers hourly, half day, full day and weekly rentals of boats, kayaks, waterskis, tubes, and kneeboards. Overseen by former owner Larry Koob, along with Jim and Renee Sopel, the marina also has boat slips, gas, oil and other supplies.
Rent a boat and head out onto Rangeley, Mooselookmeguntic, Cupsuptic, Upper and Lower Richardson Lakes for the day. The mountains form a backdrop to spectacular scenery. And you’ll have an opportunity for abundant wildlife sightings, including soaring bald eagles, serenading loons and maybe even a moose browsing on pickerel weeds.

In addition, the marina is home to the “Oquossuc Lady,” a 1947 wooden launch. Make reservations for a tour and learn more about the history and culture of the area as you take in the pristine mountain environment, crystal clear water and clean fresh air. Don’t forget your camera!
Rangeley Lake encompasses 6,302 acres. The maximum depth is 149 feet, with a mean depth of 60 feet. Consequently, the coldwater fishery supports landlocked salmon and trout. The lake has an above average water quality reading.
Mooselookmeguntic and Cupsuptic Lake are actually two bodies of water originally separated by a short, narrow river. They were joined when the water level of Mooselookmeguntic was raised fourteen feet after the Upper Dam was built in 1850. Together they cover 16,359 acres, have a maximum depth of 132 feet and a mean depth of 60 feet. The water quality is average.
Located west of Mooselookmeguntic, the Richardson Lakes encompass 5,100 acres and have above average water quality. These lakes and Lake Umbagog were made famous in Louise Dickinson Rich’s book first published in 1942, We Took to the Woods. Read the book while relaxing on a boat rented from Saddleback Marina, and you feel like Rich is talking about events that occurred yesterday.
When you’re ready to rev up your engine and feel the wind in your hair, head over to Saddleback Marina.
