Turnkey Lakefront Home on Hancock Pond, Sebago, Maine

Envision yourself living in a contemporary Colonial on Hancock Pond in Sebago, Maine. Built in 1992, and purchased by the present owners in 2008, the house at 694 Hancock Pond Road has over 5,000 square feet and every detail is accounted for. It’s an immaculate house that is as stunning as the spectacular sunsets.

As you pull into the driveway, you’ll already be planning your first gathering. An inviting stone pathway leads from the hardtop driveway, past beautiful landscaping to the front door.

The main level features a spacious foyer. Once inside, you’ll find an open concept kitchen, dining area and living room. Special features include a kitchen island, Shaker cabinets, storage galore, floor to ceiling windows, exposed beams and a brick fireplace. I have a feeling you already know where the Christmas tree will go.
French doors open from the living room into a game room, where a pool table is currently set up. Also on the first floor is one of the six bedrooms and four baths. A second bedroom is currently being used as an office.
Upstairs, you’ll find the master bedroom with a spacious sitting area, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake and a private spa/bathroom. Two more bedrooms, a studio and another bath are located on this floor.
There’s plenty of room for entertaining, great, informal spaces for family fun and sumptuous private areas where you can get away from it all.
Special extras include a vacuum system throughout the house, alarm system with extras, and a generator that feeds the entire house and comes on automatically, plus a five-zone propane system.
And that’s not all. There’s also an open concept studio apartment on the basement level for your in-laws. A blue stone patio off the apartment allows the relatives to sip morning coffee while reading the newspaper, or chat with the family.

Off to the side of the property, you’ll see more perennial gardens that lead to a potting shed. The shed is attached to a two car garage.
Other outdoor amenities include a screened porch with an overhead fan, a deck overlooking the lake and a dock system. From the sandy beach, you can gradually enter the water. Beside the lake and just above the beach is a patio/fire pit, waiting for you to gather the family–it’s all about roasting marshmallows, singing songs and making memories.
Sunset cruises, excellent fishing, wildlife observations–you can enjoy it all here. For wildlife, she tells us they’ve seen “moose, fox, a bald eagle nest very near by,  loons, ducks, deer and turkeys.”
Hancock Pond is hour-glass shaped and covers 858 acres. It’s connected to Sand Pond (Walden Pond) via a shallow dug way.
The current owners don’t want to leave, but life is calling them away. They purchased the house to fit their weekend family. “It’s a lovely home,” she says. “I will hate to leave it! My gardens, the beautiful views! Also our neighbors own a tennis court that we are invited to. They are never here! They want us to use it! I will truly miss this beautiful home and the amenities.” Now you  can make it fit your weekend family.
The view includes Burnt Meadow Mountain in Brownfield. It’s about a fifteen minute drive from the property to the mountain and a fun climb offering panoramic views from the summit.
Bridgton, Naples and Fryeburg, Maine, and North Conway, New Hampshire are also close by. The owners have discovered a few favorites for a bite to eat: Black Horse Tavern in Bridgton, Rick’s Cafe and the Black Bear Pub in Naples, and the Oxford House Inn Restaurant in Fryeburg. Portland is an hour away and the house is located only three hours from Boston.
They’ve hosted lots of cookouts and even a wedding at this turnkey property. The owner also sees the house serving as a Bed and Breakfast. Hmmm . . . that’s something to think about.
