Maine Lakefront Home on Cobbosseeconte is Absolute Cream Puff

1094267_1 Welcome Home to Cobbosseeconte Lake in Manchester, Maine

Looking for a cream-puff lakefront home in Maine? We’ve got just the place for you at 132 Williamson Road on Molazigan Island in Manchester.

This is island living at its best. It’s located on beautiful Cobbosseeconte Lake and connected to the mainland via a causeway just wide enough to drive across. When you own waterfront property here, you’ll feel completely isolated and relaxed–and yet be only 15 minutes from the capital city of Augusta.

Built in 1960, the current owner and her late husband purchased the property in 1999. When you hear the oft-used phrase, “location, location, location,” think about this place. The one-floor, year-round house has a western view, which is “very beautiful and affords us the sunset each night,” she tells us. Imagine sitting on the deck or enclosed 4-season porch with the lights turned off so you can listen to the loons and enjoy the brilliance of the Milky Way.
From the driveway, enter the 1,310 square-foot house through a 10 x 10-foot mudroom. Step into the open concept living room and kitchen and you’ll know you’ve arrived. Lake views greet you from the windows. A gas fireplace takes the chill out of the early morning or evening air and sets the mood. Meals are easy to prep in the cook’s kitchen, complete with granite counter tops and an island.

Two bedrooms are in the back of the house and share the one full bathroom. Hidden away in a closet of the master bedroom is a washer and dryer.
The heated sleeping porch can be closed off if you choose in the winter. And as a special bonus–a man cave in the basement. It’s a finished room in the front half of the basement and is accessible only from an outside door.
The property slopes to the lake where you’ll want to spend most of your time in any season. The island-studded Cobbosseeconte is over nine miles long, with 62 miles of shoreline to explore. It’s known for its world class fishing, which is one of the reasons the current owner says they purchased the property: “He was an avid fisherman and we bought this place because of the great fishing.” The fish love to play “catch and release.”  A “pet” great blue heron has been known to enjoy the fishing as well. “It fishes off the docks just about every day.”
Located in a nice, quiet neighborhood, the neighbors are reported to be “the best in the country.” And cookouts at the property have accommodated about twenty people, so there’s plenty of space to share with your family and friends.
The current owner is selling so she can move closer to her children, but she and her husband “really loved spending these last 12 years here.” Not only did they enjoy their time on the lake, but they also liked the “local Mom and Pop restaurants where the food never failed us . . . and attending live shows at the Civic Center in Augusta.”
When you’re not on the lake or relaxing at the house, you’ll discover that there is plenty to do in Augusta and Hallowell. Freeport is only a 30-45 minute drive away. But . . . we guarantee that at the end of the day, you’ll be sitting on the porch enjoying a late night cup of coffee or glass of wine and reveling in the fact that you found this gem as the stars glisten on the shimmering water and the loons serenade you.
