Lake Cobbosseeconte in Manchester, Maine

Located along the shores of Lake Cobbosseeconte in the Belgrade Lakes Region of Maine, Manchester is home to Ladies Delight Lighthouse one of three lighthouses on the lake. The Cobbosseeconte Yacht Club is one of the oldest inland yacht clubs, is located in Manchester. And when you want a break from time spent on the water, head out for a local hike.



Allen-Whitney Memorial Forest
Four miles of trails wind through the hilly terrain of this 708-acre forest. Hikers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers are welcome.

Gannet Woods
A one-mile loop takes hikers past the west side of Shedd Pond.

Hutchinson Pond Conservation Area
A half-mile trail leads to the shoreline of Hutchinson Pond where you can enjoy the view or launch your kayak.

Jamies Pond Wildlife Management Area
Also known as Jimmy Pond, this 800-acre preserve with the 107-acre Jamies Pond has eight trails that form a variety of loops.

The Hallowell Recreation Area
A two-mile loop passes the town reservoir, springs, vernal pools and remnants of Hallowell’s historic granite quarries.

Vaughan Woods
A three-mile trail loops through the woods at the historic Vaughan Homestead.

Augusta Nature Education Center
Along five miles of trail through a meadow and forest, you’ll see historic granite quarries, waterfalls and ponds.

Trailhead: South Belfast Avenue, Augusta
Viles Arboreteum
Six miles of trials traverse fields and forest and wind past Water Works Well, an old piggery, Viles Pond, the rhododendron grove, chestnut plantation, a rock garden, Governors’ Grove, lilac and heirloom apple tree collection.
