Belgrade Lakes Golf Club, Belgrade Lakes, Maine: Swing Into A Lifetime of Lakefront Memories

Belgrade Lakes Golf Club and Surrounding Lakes

Belgrade Lakes Golf Club in Belgrade Lakes, Maine is a championship course designed by British Architect Clive Clark. The course was a vision of philanthropist Harold Alfond, founder of the Dexter Shoe Company, who wanted to create a golf club for the everyday people.
This championship 18-hole, par 71 course takes full advantage of the landscape and “features rolling fairways lined with brilliantly colored stands of timber, alongside white granite outcroppings. Along the way, you’ll find impossibly beautiful par threes, consistently diverse par fours, short but remarkably devilish par fives, and old-style cross bunkering throughout.”
The stunning setting includes views of Long Pond and Great Pond.
Long Pond is a serene waterway of 2,714 acres, surrounded by majestic pines leading up to The Mountain, French’s Mountain and Blueberry Hill. The pond is divided by a narrows into two distinct basins. The southern or lower basin is the deepest with a maximum depth of 106 feet. It provides a perfect habitat for supporting cold and warm water fish. The water quality of Long Pond is considered above average.

Elizabeth Arden, who made make-up acceptable to “respectable” American women in the early 1900s, was among the property owners of lakefront real estate on Long Pond. She owned Maine Chance, an exclusive resort and health spa on the pond, in Mount Vernon. Her clientele included First Lady Mamie Eisenhower and famous movie stars.
Great Pond measures roughly seven miles north to south by four miles east to west. It has a surface area of 8,239 acres, has a maximum depth of 69 feet and a mean depth of 21 feet, and its shore length is over 46 miles.

This large body of water has been a destination of boaters, fishermen, and outdoor enthusiasts for many, many years. Great Pond is also blessed with above average water quality.
Take time to admire the view as you enjoy the low-key atmosphere at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club. Golfers often comment on the relaxed pace as they play. Though its natural terrain can be challenging, it’s a fun course to play.
Over the years, Golf Digest and Golf magazine have recognized the club as one of the top public courses in Maine and the United States. After being open only a few years, the course received the coveted five star rating from Golf Digest.
Belgrade Lakes Golf Club’s motto is “Enjoy it Today. Remember it for a Lifetime.” We hope you’ll feel the same about owning lakefront property on either Long Pond or Great Pond. Both are wonderful places to escape to or call home and make lasting memories–while enhancing your swing just down the road.
