Nov. 15, Thursday, 7pm, Accordion Concert, Gary Chapin, Gary plays rural French folk music on a diatonic button accordion. He’s been playing for thirteen years, having learned from Sylvain Piron, an Alsatian accordionist and singer. The music Gary plays is mostly for dance, with bourrées, mazurkas, polkas, and waltzes … some dating back to the Middle Ages, free, Hubbard Free Library, 115 Second Street, Hallowell. Nov. 17, Saturday, 10:15am-12pm, UMF FRC 5th Annual Turkey Trot and Kids Fun Run, starts at the UMF Fitness & Recreation Center at 10:15 a.m., and loops on High St., Maple Ave., Granite Heights and Main St. through Farmington. There is also a Fun Run for kids ten and under that starts from the center at 9:40 a.m. and loops for half a mile or a mile around the FRC. Child care is provided for children of parents running in the 5k, Registration is required to participate and forms may be picked up in advance at the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center or downloaded from their website at http://frc.umf.maine.edu/turkey-trot-5k-road-race. Registration for adults is $20 on race day, $15 in advance, University of Maine at Farmington, Farmington.
